She’s been the kick-me-queen of American Idol, but Haley Reinhart got the satisfaction of tossing it back in judge’s faces Wednesday night. Her goose-bump rendering performance of I Who Have Nothing wowed the crowd and gave her a standing ovation – even from the judge’s panel.
Reinhart was harshly criticized earlier in the evening for her song choice and performance, with especially tough comments from judge Randy Jackson. All three judges noted that Reinhart might have been channeling her anger at their comments in delivering a break-out solo of the often-covered soulful ballad originally released in English in 1963 by Ben E. King.
The Idol hopefuls are down to the final four.
Watching the performance on FOX were more than 22-million viewers, the top program for Wednesday night primetime. The FOX show more than doubled the number of viewers for its closest competition and gave the network the win for the night.
CBC landed both its Criminal Minds programs and Survivor in the top ten, while ABC put four in the rankings. NBC managed to slip in with a single crime drama.
