School districts across the MidSouth are eyeing the possibility that President Obama’s job creation plan would contribute substantial funds toward modernization.
100 of the largest school districts serving low-income students would be eligible for some $9.9-billion in Title 1 funding. Oklahoma metropolitan districts would receive some $84-million while Texas metros would split some $1.2-billion dollars.
Tulsa’s share is estimated at $36.6-million, while Oklahoma City would receive $47-million under the plan. Dallas school districts would share some $191.6-million. Fort Worth’s amount is estimated at near $85-million. The Houston school district would receive $233.6-million under Obama’s job proposal.
The money would go toward repairs to high-need districts with money directed toward modernization.
